Marion Frazier b 28 Feb 1880 Smootcreek, Letcher Co KY d 16 Jan 1938 Letcher Co KY, Salesman, Merchant, Postmaster, member of the Regular Baptist Church, s/o Jonathon H "Jont" Frazier and Leodicia "Dicy" Combs.. Marion Frazier m. 29 Dec 1905 in home of Elder James Dickson, Elk Creek, Letcher Co KY to Louanna Caudill b 10 May 1886 d 15 May 1926, d/o George W Caudill and Mary Whitaker.

The following is from Mae Frazier's book entitled "A Combs Family" (pages 205 and 206) (Source):

Marion and Louanna lived at Uz and at Elsiecoal. They had a general merchandise store at Uz. Marion practiced barbering in Elsiecoal for several years. At that time Elsiecoal was a booming mining town. He worked with his brother, Bent, intermittently in the blacksmith shop on Smoot Creek. Later he became postmaster at Elsiecoal and worked there until his death. This was an ideal position for Marion because he loved people and the postoffice became a place where many people congregated and socialized. There was practically no type of recreation or entertainment in that community so it was a custom for young people to meet the afternoon or evening trains, especially on the week ends to see who was coming into and going out of Elsiecoal.

The postoffice was located near the L & N Railroad Depot where Marion was also ticket agent. He was known and loved by the entire community. His daughter, Irene, says during the 1930 depression years many C.O.D. (Collect On Delivery) packages came to the postoffice for people who could not pay for them and Marion took money out of his own pocket and paid for some of them when he felt there was a great need for the package. Marion was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church for many years. He and Louanna are buried in the Tolson Cemetery.
